Leading Through Tragedy and Uncertainty
During my years serving the residents of Champlin as Mayor and City Councilmember, our community has faced unprecedented challenges—from the attempted assassination of Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, to civil unrest and the COVID-19 pandemic.
In moments of tragedy, fear, and uncertainty, leadership matters most. I have stood strong for our city and led with compassion, honesty, steadiness, and resolve. I have worked to keep residents informed, support our first responders and city staff, bring people together, and ensure Champlin continued providing the essential services our community depends upon.
These difficult moments tested our community, but they also demonstrated Champlin's strength and resilience. I am proud of how our residents, businesses, public-safety professionals, healthcare workers, community organizations, and city employees supported one another when it mattered most.
No leader can predict every challenge a community will face. Residents should, however, be able to trust that their Mayor will remain calm, communicate honestly, make thoughtful decisions, and put the safety and well-being of the community first.
Through every challenge, I have remained committed to being present, accessible, and focused on serving Champlin. I will continue providing experienced, compassionate, and steady leadership—during our community's best moments and when we face the unexpected.
